Experience nature

Sexten is a place for those who want to brave the peaks. Over 150 years of mountain climbing history and a passion that makes everyone feel like you are a guest in Sexten. With the Drei Zinnen hiking and climbing paradise and the wide range of tours to the mountains of the Sextner sundial, the number of individual mountain adventures is basically infinite. If you would like to have a calmer mountain experience, many options are available on the mountain pastures and meadows nearby and in the Carnic Alps.

The Sextner mountain railways make it easier to go up the mountain, and on days when your legs are tired they can take you Rotwand, the Stiergarten, Helm, Haunold or Turnthaler in the Villgraten Mountains. In the winter, they are also the key to endless ski adventures in the Sextner ski areas. If you are looking for a quiet winter, then in front of our front door you will find a snow-covered landscape of mountains and valleys – a true paradise for skiing and cross-country tours, snow shoe hikes and relaxing winter walks. For ski-touring enthusiasts, the Sexten mountain world has just as much to offer: from easy tours for beginners to more demanding routes, there is something for everyone.

Highlights: The Sextner sundial

Five peaks in the Sextner Dolomites that have always characterised the village.

The Neuner, Zehner (Sextner Rotwand), Elfer, Zwölfer and Einser mountains create the largest sundial in the world. During the winter, the path of the sun follows the Dolomite peaks: At 12 o’clock the sun is located above the Zwölfer (12) mountain. Our Büllelejochhütte lies nestles in the Sextner sundial.
